“I often tell people that this century should be century of dialogue. Peace will not come from thought or from Buddha. Peace must be built by humans, through action. So that means, whenever we face problem — dialogue. That’s the only way. For that, we need inner disarmament. So our work should make a little contribution to materialize a peaceful, compassionate world later this century. That’s my wish. It will not come immediately. But we have to make the effort. This moment, it looks only like an idea. But every corner must make the effort. Then there is possibility. Then, if we fail in spite of that effort, no regret.”
Words from the Dalai Lama.
Much of this article touched my heart. I need to learn more, but I do find this article much worth reading. Specifically this quote from his interview with Rolling Stones, I am going to let it sink in for now. Take the time to read the article for yourself.
Peace by action friends, peace by action- not just thought. Let’s get out there and start acting.
How can you ignore pain?
How can you sit and talk and carry on?
Does your heart not bleed?
Is your conscious unseared?
Their stories flash before your eyes
Yet you remain unmoved
You drink your drink
As others strain to listen
Your apathy is tangible
Filling…
Let this fill your heart.
